Wednesday 11/9:
Today we started drafting coming of age narratives! Remember, we'll work next week to add important diction, syntax, imagery and dialogue to convey a strong sense of your interviewee's voice. Final narratives are DUE FRIDAY, NOV. 17
Coming of Age book project DUE 10/30!
Make sure you are working on your interview and taking good notes! We'll start planning for the narratives on 11/6.
Wednesday 10/18:
We read the story, "The Scarlet Ibis." Click here if you need to reread. You may use your Diction, Syntax and Voice handout (in your binder) to help. Make sure the front side is complete for Thursday, we'll finish the interview part in class.
Friday, Oct. 13:
We continue our study of diction, syntax, voice, and tone. We are also in the middle of our Coming of Age unit where we've been reading coming of age narratives, and students have all selected a coming of age themed novel to read.
DUE MONDAY, Oct. 16: "What's in a Name" analysis of diction, syntax, imagery.
Other important dates: Book study project due Monday, October 30 at the start of class!
Monday, Sept. 25- Friday Sept. 29:
Due Tuesday--Literary Analysis of "The Princess Bride.
Literary Vocabulary quiz on Tuesday on "Red Riding Hood"
Monday,Sept 18- Friday Sept 22:
We spent most of this week on the vocabulary of literary analysis and on element of plot. We watched and analyzed the movie, "The Princess Bride," and took notes on character, mood, and events of plot. On Friday, we started the analysis.
HW: Do your best to complete the analysis sheet over the weekend, and be ready to discuss it on Monday. :-)
Monday,Sept 11- Friday Sept 15:
Monday we worked on revising/editing/drafting Me Maps. A few students even began their final drafts. We'll continue working on Me Maps until the end of class on Wednesday. Students should be ready to present on Thursday.
